How to Take Screenshot on iPhone 8 and higher with or without a Home Button.

Whether you simply bought your first iPhone or were in the use of one considering the home button clicked, there’s one component you won’t know: how to take a screenshot on iPhone 8 or any other version. But we’re right here to help, irrespective of which version of iPhone you’re using. Here’s how.

iPhone 8/earlier

Now to answer how to take screenshot on iPhone 8, If you have an iPhone having a home button, then you can use that button to take a screenshot. All you have to do is hold down the home button plus the power button for a second or two and then let go. You will see Your iPhone will flash and make a clicking noise if the audio is turned on. A screenshot will be recorded.

iPhone SE

The iPhone SE comprises a classic iPhone design, so it works the same as the iPhone 8 works. Press the home plus the power buttons for about a second or two. Your screenshot will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen of your iPhone.

iPhone X/later

The latest iPhones no longer comprise the home button. The method of taking screenshots is different now. Instead of using the home button, you have to press plus hold at the same time the volume up button and the power button for about a second, and then release. Your iPhone will buzz and flash, and your screen will be shot.

AssistiveTouch

Apple doesn’t offer a shortcut for taking screenshots in iOS, but you can add one if you wish to. For This, 

  • head over to Settings
  • Then General
  • Click on Accessibility. 
  • Scroll down to AssistiveTouch. 
  • Turn it on

A small circle will appear on your home screen containing shortcuts to various actions, one of which will be taking a screenshot. Initially, the option will be on the second page of the Device menu, but you can customize it inside the Settings tab if you want to. 

Then, whenever you want to take a screenshot, you only have to open the on-screen menu and then you have to tap the screenshot icon. And you don’t have to worry, it will not capture the AssistiveTouch overlay with it.

Siri

Unfortunately,  Apple has not taught Siri to take a screenshot, so going hands-free is out of the picture. Instead of that Siri will tell you how you can take a screenshot with your particular phone when you say, ‘Hey Siri take a screenshot.’ 

Editing (iOS 10/earlier)

After you shoot your screenshot, you’ll probably need to edit or share it. For this purpose, iPhones that haven’t been updated past iOS 10, you have to head over to Apple’s Photos app and find it at the top of the camera roll. By Tapping on the thumbnail, you can open it and the Edit button will let you mark up, crop, and adjust as needed. Then you have to press Done to save it.

Editing (iOS 11/later)

Apple introduced the latest screenshot interface in iOS 11, and this one is actually a great one. When you take a screenshot, you’ll see that a small thumbnail appears in the lower-left corner of your screen. 

You can swipe it away or wait for it to disappear. But if you want to act on the screenshot as soon as you take it, you can tap on it to be taken directly to the editing interface. In this,  you’ll be able to mark up, crop, your image, and share it. with the option to delete when you’re done so it doesn’t fill up your camera roll.
