Here are following things you need to do;

1. On your ipad or iPhone, launch a shortcut app.
2. Tap on the + icon present on the top right corner of your screen.
3. Click on, Add Action.
4. For the purpose of searching “ Open App”, use the text field.
5. Tap on Open App.
6. Click on Choose.
7. Now, use the search for the app you need to change the icon of.
8. Select it.
9. Then you have to Click on the three dots that are present in the top right corner of the screen.
10. Click on Add to the Home Screen.
11. Click on the placeholder app icon.
12. From the drop down menu, click on Take Photo, then Choose Photo/Choose File. it depends on where your replacement app icon image is located.
13. Choose your replacement app.
14. Rename the app as you want it to appear on the home scream, in the text finder.
15. Click on Add.
16. Tap on Done.
17. You will see that your shortcut will be created.
18. Turn back to the home screen.

If you already got the app on your home screen then you will get two icons. If you want to keep only your newly created icon then you should simply move the old icon to the App Library.

There is no need to delete the original app.

14. When you find the image of your choice, save it to your device.
15. Now, go back to the shortcuts app.
16. Tap on the current icon.
17. Tap on Choose photo.
18. Click on the image you have saved.
19. You can zoom out or zoom in on the image, if you want to.
20. Click on Choose.
21. Tap on Add.

Now, you have seen that your apps are customized on your phone. The original app will not be removed, they will remain on the phone. You can restore them in a folder if you want to.
